The PDO Thread procedure involves medical grade threads placed strategically under the skin which results in skin rejuvenation and a subtle lifting effect. The thread is slowly absorbed by the body over a period of about 6 months, during which it stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic within the skin.
As opposed to traditional ‘lifting style’ threads where a single, or pair of threads, are placed in an area, multiple PDO’s are inserted into each area to create a ‘scaffolding’ of collagen over time.
To ensure patient comfort, a numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure; local anaesthetic may also be administered depending on the area. Each thread is then delivered to a precise depth of the skin via a fine, hollow needle and repeated until the desired number are in place. When the needles are removed, each thread is withdrawn from inside the needle and remain within the skin.
PDO Threads are very versatile and can be used for the following areas:
– Under the eyes / tear troughs
– Lip definition
PDO threads may be suitable for men and women of all ages, who are noticing or wish to prevent laxity and loss of definition throughout the face. Patients who are looking for an alternative to dermal fillers find this treatment appealing for a subtle and natural result.
PDO Threads are considered minimally invasive and can be performed in about 30 minutes, requiring little or no downtime. Some bruising may occur, however in most cases this can be covered with makeup and usually resolves over 4 – 5 days. It is also common to experience some tenderness and swelling to the treated area, which will subside in the days following the procedure.
Specific post procedure care and will be discussed and given to you after the procedure.
PDO Threads are designed to improve overall skin quality and texture, resulting in a firmer appearance and subtle lifting effect.
Stimulation within the skin begins within 10 – 14 days after the treatment. Results will continue to improve over the subsequent weeks, peaking at around 6 – 8 months and lasting up to 18 months.
