8 expert tips for the ultimate spring skincare routine

Spring is in the air. As with your wardrobe, you should adjust your skincare routine to match. After the long, cold winter, it’s now time to bring some life back into your skin.

You’re not sure where to begin? We’ve got you covered. The beauty experts from BC have compiled the best tips and products for radiant spring skin.

1. Dry winter skin can be exfoliated

Polish off the dullness of your skin after winter to reveal a fresh layer. It would be best if you used gentle fruit peels and exfoliators once or twice per week. Then, apply a moisturizing face mask to help your skin recover.

I like Pevonia’s Gentle Exfoliating Wash. It’s perfect for those who enjoy physical exfoliators but don’t want to use harsh facial scrubs. It polishes the skin with its creamy texture and is formulated with saponaria, chamomile, and jojoba beads. The result? A softer, brighter, and smoother complexion. If you prefer an exfoliant without microbeads and grains, my favorite is the Vegetal Enzyme Exfoliant. This product combines natural enzymes from vegetables with vitamin E in order to remove impurities, blackheads, and dead skin cells. After one application, your skin will feel smooth and soft.

Use one of my favorite masks, Pevonia’s Ageless Skin Collagen Mask. It is formulated with collagen, shea butter, and squalane. This mask penetrates deeply into the skin to provide outstanding skin plumping and hydration results.

2. Use lighter moisturiser

The warmer months are when our skin retains the most water, so heavy formulations can cause pimples and clogged skin pores.

It would be best if you struck the perfect balance between light and nourishing lotions and creams. This will help you achieve a spring glow. To add a dewy complexion without over-saturating your skin, we recommend using hyaluronic or water-based formulations. They help to achieve hydration within the skin, rather than just sealing in a moisturizer from the outside. Luminous Defense Brightening Day Protector SPF 50 in the spring and summer. It not only protects skin from the sun’s harmful rays but also helps to prevent discoloration and diminish existing dark spots while calming and enhancing your complexion!

Why not double up on SPF and apply it to both your skincare and makeup? The Luminous ELES CC Cream 20 is a product I cannot recommend highly enough (which also happens to be a top-seller at BC!) It’s a light, oil-free colour-correcting cream that offers broad spectrum protection.

4. Prioritise Vitamin C

Vitamin C is also important in the summer months when UVB is strongest. When applied topically, Vitamin C not only increases our skin’s tolerance to sunlight but also helps control pigmentation and lightens its appearance! Make sure to use a high-quality vitamin C cream or serum. Pevonia’s C Complexe With Oxyzomes is a product I highly recommend. Instantly radiant skin with just two pumps.

Bonus: If you buy this product in September, you will receive a full-size Pevonia Gentle Cleansing Cleanser as well!

5. Use eye cream daily…if you don’t already

It’s important to know that you are at a higher risk for developing wrinkles and fine lines around your delicate eye area if you spend more time in the sun during the summer months. Make sure to include an eye gel or cream in your daily skincare regimen. Pevonia’s “C” Evolutive Eye Gel is highly recommended to hydrate and shield our eyes. This cooling and soothing gel, with time-released spherulites, delivers protection and decongesting effects to the delicate eye area all day.

It’s also made with an excellent trio of ingredients, including Vitamin C and Ginkgo Biloba.

6. Add mattifying and pore-perfecting products to your daily routine

Spring can bring more shine and oil than you expected. Your spring skincare routine should include products to help you shine in the right way by mattifying any areas of your face that could become too oily. Use a primer throughout the day to help keep your makeup in place. ELES’s Pore Perfecting Face Primer is an oil-free primer that combats shine and absorbs excess oils. My foundation applies easily and stays flawless all day long! If your skin is oily, give this product a try!

7. Switch to a lighter foundation

Avoid the heavier, thicker foundations that you may have used in the winter months. The heat and humidity of summer can cause sweating and clogged pores, which could lead to breakouts. By switching to lighter products such as BB Creams or mineral powder foundations, you can balance the excess oil production. Your skin will look healthier.

ELES’s best-selling Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation is something I cannot get enough of. The light, silky formula literally glides on your skin before setting to a powder finish. It provides a beautiful, natural look with no shine.

You won’t be let down!

8. You will love facial mists

When the weather gets hotter and your skin starts to dry out, you’ll want to be prepared with a facial mist that will hydrate. These mists not only cool your skin but also keep it hydrated all day. We love Pevonia Phyto Aromatic Mist for its calming, nourishing, and convenient properties.
