Vaginal Regeneration Laser

Downstairs, we are all unique and healthy vulvas (external female genital organs), come in many shapes, sizes, and colours. Half of women have labia minora, which are the inner lips. They are shorter than the labia maina, which is the outer lips. Many women are unhappy with their vulva’s cosmetic appearance, despite the fact that there is so much variation in its shape, size and colour. Here is a helpful site that explains what “normal span” is.

In addition, when a woman experiences pregnancy, childbirth or weight changes, her internal tissue tends to lose tone. The external vulva tissues may also stretch, leading to a condition called Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS). VRS usually begins in women between the ages 30-40. The vaginal wall slowly changes from a thick, soft, lubricated, strong lining to one that is thin, fragile, and dry due to a steady decline in collagen regeneration. Collagen is a protein that helps strengthen connective tissue throughout the body, including the vagina.

Other symptoms such as light bladderleaking, mild prolapse, and sometimes painful perineal scarring are all common signs of childbirth and aging.

The MonaLisa Touch (internal), and the DOT laser(external) can be used to treat vulvae tissue.

It is now possible to make a visible difference in the shape and size of the vulva tissues or restore a healthy, elastic vaginal structure with just 1-2 laser treatments.

WHO IS A GOOD PATIENT?

For those looking for improved sensation, vaginal comfort and tone, the MonaLisa Touch laser treatment is the best option. This treatment is perfect for women who have:

  • Common post-birth symptoms include loss of vaginal tone and mild prolapse.
  • A decrease in vaginal sensations and arousal.
  • Infections of the bladder or vaginal tract, such as thrush and UTIs, are common; and
  • Anyone who feels that their sexual experience and lifestyle would be enhanced by a better vaginal tone and elasticity.

External DOT lasers are very similar to facial rejuvenation. It reduces scar tissue, stimulates collagen formation and shrinks tissue. It can be used for:

  • Perineal scarring, especially if there is pain or discomfort in the area.
  • Vulva cosmetic enhancement by labia reduction, or improved symmetry.

We also have the option to combine DOT laser and cosmetic injectable fillers in order to plump and strengthen the outer labia lips.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

The MonaLisa Touch basically regenerates tissue and returns your vagina back to its youthful, elastic, and healthy state. Patients have reported a noticeable tightening in their vaginal tissue. This has led to increased sexual pleasure for both partners and the ability to orgasm. They also reported:

  • More comfortable intercourse (no pain);
  • A reduction in light bladder leakage;
  • Improvement in mild prolapse;
  • Less vaginal infection and uncommon discharge
  • Increased sensations in the vaginal tissue.
  • Increased sexual confidence and libido.

The DOT laser is a non-surgical option to labiaplasty. It can reduce the size of vulva tissues and improve their texture. The DOT laser can also be used to lighten genital pigmentation and soften perineal scarring, as well as treating severe Lichen Sclerosus.

Injection of cosmetic filler can plump and firm loose tissue around the outer lips.

HOW DO THE TREATMENTS WORK?

MonaLisa Touch stimulates the body’s regenerative process to produce more healthy cells. It also improves the blood supply to the vaginal walls. This directly affects the integrity and elasticity the vaginal tissue, and raises the acidity to more normal levels. This results in a tightening and improving of the vaginal channel, enhanced lubrication, increased sensitivity, and a healthy pH environment. It also reduces infections such as UTIs and thrush.

This equipment can direct thousands of tiny beams of energy (or DOTs), of heat and energy directly into the vaginal surface using a thin, smooth hand-piece that can easily be inserted inside of the canal. The heat delivered to the epithelium stimulates the natural regenerative processes in the vaginal skin and connective tissue by stimulating the activity specialised cells that produce elastin, collagen and other building blocks of healthy tissue. The DOT laser for scar tissue and external vulva is cosmetic. It works the same way for DOT skin renewal treatments. Your skin condition will be addressed with the appropriate laser parameters.

YOUR VAGINAL REJUVENATION EXPERIENCE?

Initial Consultation:

Our physician will visit you to discuss your concerns and symptoms. To ensure you are eligible for MonaLisa Touch and DOT treatments, our physician will examine you. MonaLisa Touch requires that you have a normal, up-to-date pap test result. There are no contraindications. (see below ).

You can start your first treatment as soon as you are deemed fit. No preparation is required.

We will assess you for any contraindications or unusual conditions before we treat you.

Treatment:

MonaLisa Touch treatment takes only 15 minutes. The procedure is usually quite painless if you don’t have advanced vaginal atrophy symptoms.

The vaginal canal will be cleaned and dried. A sterile probe will then be gently inserted into it. While the laser is working, you will feel a slight vibrating sensation. The treatment is painless and requires no analgesia. Our nurse and physician will support you throughout your procedure. This will ensure that you feel comfortable and get the best possible patient care.

An external DOT laser treatment requires the application of a numbing lotion before treatment. The treatment is extremely effective, and is more comfortable than internal.

Post-Treatment:

Patients are able to resume their daily activities as soon as MonaLisa Touch or the DOT treatment is over. However, we do not recommend any intercourse or strenuous activity, or exposure to public pools/spa baths for more than 3-5 days.

External DOT lasers can cause the skin to feel tightened and dry. This is because the top layer of the skin begins to heal and then sheds. It may take up to 2 weeks for the area to heal completely. The regeneration of healthy tissue can continue for up to 6 more months.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Some patients report vaginal tightening and contraction with the Mona Lisa Touch and the DOT. However, these effects last for 6 months and are more evident after a few weeks due to the remodeling of collagen in the vaginal mucosa.

Individual patients will have different levels of regeneration. Many patients experience improvement over 12-18 months without any further treatment. The results aren’t permanent, and some patients may want to continue the positive effects.

Women may want to consider vaginal reconstruction options for more permanent results. We provide surgical options from our Perth clinic only, see www.academydayhospital.com.au
