Pollution introduces contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of any substance (solid, liquid, or gas) or energy (such as radioactivity, heat, sound, or light). Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Although natural events can cause environmental Pollution, the word pollution generally implies that the contaminants have an anthropogenic source, a source created by human activities. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution. In 2015, Pollution killed 9 million people worldwide.
Various definitions of Pollution exist, which may or may not recognize certain types, such as noise pollution or greenhouse gases. The United States Environmental Protection Administration defines Pollution as “Any substances in water, soil, or air that degrade the natural quality of the environment, offend the senses of sight, taste, or smell, or cause a health hazard. The usefulness of the natural resource is usually impaired by the presence of pollutants and contaminants.” In contrast, the United Nations considers Pollution to be the “presence of substances and heat in environmental media (air, water, land) whose nature, location, or quantity produces undesirable environmental effects.”
Loss of skin elasticity, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone can lead to duller skin. These are the words you will hear every day as you look in the mirror at your skin. While diet and exercise are important factors in the appearance of your skin, Pollution can be the most damaging to your skin.
Vehicles
You can’t escape the pollution created by cars, whether you drive a car or a two-wheeler. Not enough is covering your face with a scarf, hat, or hoodie. You also need to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. The Lakme SunExpert Ultra Matte SPF50 PA+++ GelSunscreen, a non-sticky formula, is recommended for all skin types.
Skipping deep cleansing
Impurities, dirt, and pollution particles easily get into our pores. They stay there for a long time causing dry skin and breakouts. A deep cleansing facial wash is the best way to combat this problem. The Pond’s Pure White Anti-Pollution Facial Wash with Activated Charcoal cleans the skin’s deeper layers and absorbs all dirt and impurities accumulated over the day. It gently exfoliates to reveal fair and glowing skin.
Smoking
Smoking can cause cancer in your lungs, but you may not know that it can also damage your skin. Smoking can cause wrinkles, premature skin ageing, and narrowing blood vessels in the skin. It can also damage the collagen and elastin fibres, which give your skin its elasticity.
Chlorine water
The skin can appear dull and dry from the effects of chlorinated water. Avoid swimming in chlorinated water.
Too little hydration
Well-hydrated skin and body can reverse the effects Pollution has on the skin. To flush out toxins from your skin, drink at least 8-10 glasses of fluids each day. Apply a moisturizing lotion every day to protect your skin from dirt particles and other pollutants.
